1- Garden Tips for April - Prep Time Dig in compost, manure and other amendments in planting areas when the soil is dry enough Check the brackets used for hanging baskets. Once your flowers are in full bloom and the soil is moist they will become much heavier. Prune stone fruit trees such as peaches and nectarines, as soon as buds begin to develop. Do not prune these in the winter, while they are dormant. ^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^ More Garden Tips for April Here http://gardeningtips.org/April/ ^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^ 2- Garden Party - African Violets Snipped - "I love to grow African Violets but I have problems with spots appearing on the leaves. It doesnt seem to have an affect on the health of the plant but they arent as pretty. Do you know anything about this or have any tips for me?" - Sarah The leaves of African Violets will develop spots if they get wet. Don't use a plant mister on African Violets. Always water from the bottom of the plant being careful not to drip any on the leaves. Another method is to fill a saucer with water and line it with small stones or pebbles. Place your potted violets on top of the stones for added humidity. While the party ensues, two gardeners are out on the back lawn working. One of the guests was watching the gardeners do their thing, and while one gardener was busy weeding the other jumped up and did graceful swirling dance movements. Taken by his grace, the guest remarked to the host, 'That man is such a talented dancer, that I'd pay him a hundred pounds to demonstrate his dancing before my aerobics class!' When the host asked the first gardener about such an arrangement, he yelled, 'Hey Fred! Do you think for a hundred pounds you could step on that rake again?' ^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^ Get more grownZ and Giggles here: http://gardeningtips.org/jokes.shtml ^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^ Happy Gardening:) Shauna - Gardener's Paradise - http://gardeningtips.org Subscribe: gardenersParadise@yahoogroups.com Unsubscribe: gardenersParadise-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com Please let me know if you experience problems with the format of this letter.
