Recipe for Layered Salad

Place a layer each of fresh lettuce, grated carrots, chopped celery, finely chopped onions, shelled peas and bacon bits.

Mix the following separately
2 - 4 T suger
2 c mayonnaise
1/2 c lemon juice
Salt & Pepper to taste

Pour over layered salad & sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

"I use my fresh herbs for lots of different recipes. Fresh Basil with fresh tomatoes makes for a great pizza. I like to cook chicken breasts in the slow cooker with fresh sage, rosemary and thyme, a can of beer and a can of chicken broth. After browning the chicken I cook it in the herbs and beer/broth mixture on high for 2-3 hours (or more if needed) in the slow cooker. When the chicken is cooked through, I remove it, strain the broth and make gravy. Then I serve the chicken and gravy mixture over rice or garlic mashed potatoes. Mmmmmmmmm!!" "Herb Basting Sauce on Chicken Breasts

For the ingredients use the following:
4 chicken breast halves
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 clove of crushed garlic
1 teaspoon of dried thyme
1 1/2 chopped fresh parsley
1/tsp of salt and ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary crushed
1/4 teaspoon of sage
1/4 teaspoon of dried marjaram
1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce
1 tablesppon of minced onion

Directions for cooking:
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees
Combine all your spices along with the olive oil.
Then coat your chicken in this mixture until it is throughly coated on all sides.
Then put your chicken in a shallow baking dish and cover.
Cook for approximately 45 minutes or until tender. As it is cooking you can continue to baste the chicken with the drippings in the pan.
Optional: After removing from pan you can cover the chicken with some fresh parsley"

"As my patience wears thin and I tire of winters cold and dreary days... The descision is made to get out my gardening supplies and start my spring seedlings. To achieve the needed conditions for my new friends, I dedicate a corner section of counter space, which, will have the least amount of drafts and install portable light sticks, just under the above cabinets. In the past, I have tried many methods of watering my babies, (re: plants) and I find that using a spray bottle works fine, until the young seedlings sprout, however this method seems overpowering after that point... so I use an eye-dropper or turkey baster to gently water the soil and not the foliage. Also, I find that letting my tap water, which has clorine in it, set for 24 hours before watering seems to eliminate the need for distilled water. Finally, I have used plastic wrap or aluminum foil to wrap the bottom of my trays, which helps to maintain additional warmth."   Pam of Oklahoma

"Herbs like to be cut. Keep trimming to keep the new growth coming. You will find that 'old growth' tastes bitter and becomes heavy. Constant snipping keeps the fresh and tasty new growth coming!
An herb garden can bring a person a lot of pleasure because there are so many things that can be done with herbs such as herbal crafts, herbal teas and herbal seasonings. Having fresh or dried herbs on hand, is a sure way to turn an ordinary recipe into an extraordinary culinary delight. This is a favorite dip recipe I like to make and serve to guests.
1 cup of mayonnaise
2 cups of sour cream
4 sprigs of fresh cilantro, chopped fine or 2 tsp. dried cilantro
2 sprigs of fresh parsley, chopped fine or 1 tsp. dried parsley
at least a fist full of fresh garlic, chopped fine 
or 2 Tablespoons dried garlic
juice from 1/2 lime or 1 Tablespoon lime juice
1 tsp. cracked pepper
Salt to taste
1/2 sweet red pepper, chopped fine
1/2 medium sweet onion, chopped fine
2 Jalapeno or Chipotle peppers, chopped 
or 2 Tablespoons Jalapeno sauce 
Prepare at least 3 hours prior to serving. Mix all ingredients and refrigerate. Great dip for veggies or chips, and especially tortilla chips..
