Involve your children in gardening at an early age: - Set aside an area in your yard for your child to create his or her own garden. It will not only be a useful tool for teaching proper gardening techniques, but will also help them to develop a sense of responsability and experience the pride that comes with seeing their responsabilities through to completion.
- Involve your child in shopping for the plants he or she would like to grow but keep in mind that you want them to experience success, so steer away from the more difficult varieties. "Beets, cherry tomatoes and sunflowers are easy to grow and hardy plants." --Bob Whitehead--
- Take him or her out to buy a garden hat, some gloves and perhaps even some smaller sized garden tools. Many stores carry these child size versions today.
- Your Cabbage Patch kids will learn proper techniques for caring for a garden, will learn some responsability; growing up with an appreciation for the environment.
What do you get when ants inhabit your garden? Ants in your plants!
