Brugmansia Jamakan Yellow (Angel's Trumpet)

Angel's Trumpet Photo by Jan Bedingfield of Dublin, GA

  • Angel's trumpet (Brugs) is poisonous and is a hallucinogenic.

  • Brugmansia is from the same family as peppers, eggplants, and nicotine.

  • This fragrant shrub can grow up to 5 feet tall.

  • The blooms do not last long, aproximately 1 day.

  • Brugs love the morning sun.

  • Brugmansia (Angel's Trumpet) and datura (Devil's Trumpet) are often confused by many people - even by some seed companies.

  • Brugmansia (Angel's Trumpet) are perennials that can grow into trees and live for a long time. It's blooms hang downward and they bloom in shades of yellow, orange, white, pink & red. Brugs usually need to be hand pollinated and rarely will ever produce a seed pod.

  • Datura (Devils Trumpet) have blooms that face upward and the plant is more of a bush than a tree. datura is a perennial and usually only lives about 4 or 5 years under good conditions. They bloom in shades of purple, white & yellow with single, double or triple bloom varieties. Daturas produce several seed pods and thrive in high heat particularly in humid areas. They are very rapid growing plants and are considered a weed by many. They are banned in some areas and there are growing restrictions on them in several states.
