Steve of Tacoma, WA - "Neem tree (Azadirachta indica) extracts are very effective in controlling many insect pests and diseases of plants. It provides protection from many types of fungi, such as powdery mildew. It has been effective against more than 170 different insect species, including beetles, flies, scales, aphids, mealybugs, whiteflies, termites, caterpillars, locust, crickets, spider mites, and root knot nematodes. At low concentrations it acts as an insect repellent, at moderate levels it works as a growth regulator, interfering with normal insect maturation. It higher levels it can directly kill many insect pests. In India, where it is native, people have placed neem leaves in beds, books, grain bins, cupboards, and closets to safely keep away troublesome bugs."
